Tu B'Av

Tu B’Av – a day of rejoicing

This holiday is in stark contrast to Tisha B’Av, which was celebrated just one week earlier. It is celebrated on the 15th day of the month of Av. This year, it began at sunset on August 10th, and ends at nightfall on August 11th.  In the past, it signified the beginning of the grape harvest. Today, it is commonly celebrated as Valentine’s Day. It is a minor holiday, and as such, does not have many customary rituals.
