Cut off by Egypt.

Cut off.

If reports are true, Egypt has cut off all natural gas imports to Israel. While Israel has found large deposits of natural gas and will probably use Egypt’s existing infrastructure to help export gas, such moves do highlight the delicate position of Israel.

The “energy story” that often does not make its way to the headlines has been a consistent thorn in Israel’s side since her founding in 1948. Israel’s need for a supply of oil and gas has been used against Israel’s interests repeatedly.

What further highlights Israel’s vulnerable position: Egypt’s move to cut gas to Israel is related to the vulnerability of attack by terrorists.

If Israel were to be able to produce domestic sources of oil and gas, this would be a game changer for her. She would be less vulnerable to terrorists and the strong-arm tactics by the Western powers.
