Rabbi Nasanya Zakon: What Goes On In Israel Is Not Natural

Transcript: Rabby Nasanya Zakon speaking at the 2013 Zion Oil and Gas Shareholder’s Meeting

Rabbi Nasanya Zakon

David Ben-Gurion who was the first Prime Minister of Israel was known to say, “If somebody lives in Israel and does not believe in miracles, he’s not a realist.” My friends, it is as true today as it was in 1948.

Recently, I heard an amazing, amazing story of a young man, a young Jewish man who went to West Point. And he attended classes on modern warfare. And they would bring in case studies of different wars and battles of the 21st Century. After a number of classes, the man went to the instructor and said, “I notice you do not bring any of the case studies from any of the wars in Israel, is there some sort of Anti-Semitism here? Why are we excluded?”

And the instructor said, “Not at all, quite the contrary. What goes on in Israel is not natural. There’s nothing we can learn from there for modern warfare [points up with his hand]. There’s somebody else waging the wars there.”

And if you study the wars of 1948, 1967 and on you see just how amazingly true that is.
