Afek Oil & Gas begins oil drilling at Golan Heights site in Israel
We at Zion Oil & Gas are excited and praying for the success of our friends at Afek Oil & Gas. They have begun drilling operations in the Golan Heights area of Israel.
Afek’s oil exploration project contemplates drilling up to 10 wells and may take up to three years to complete. This first well is located north of Nahal El Al near Moshav Natur, a former kibbutz on the southern Golan Heights. They are using an imported rig supplied by Viking International – the same company with whom Zion has been in discussions about supplying a rig for our deeper drill project later this year.
Afek’s project is about 50 miles northeast from Zion’s current license area.

I’m interested, it seems you’ve gotten the drilling rig from Hungary. By what date will it arrive. Has the environmental impact approval arrived? When, then, should drilling begin?

We are actually going in a different direction.We are looking to acquire a drilling rig, for a company “Zion Drilling” and ship the rig to Israel from the USA. You may read more here – https://www.zionoil.com/updates/annual-shareholder-meeting-in-israel/
At least they are drilling. I wish that Zion oil would start drilling as well.

Our hope is to begin drilling in the fall! Currently, we are awaiting on approval from the Israeli government of our Environmental Impact Assessment.
