Exploration Maps

“The map and graphic below illustrate some of Zion’s activity in Israel. The map on the left shows Zion’s license and permit areas relative to the State of Israel.

Prior to 1990, most of the exploration and drilling was concentrated along the southern Mediterranean coast and the Negev Desert of southern Israel, but some exploration did occur in northern Israel on the land in and around the current Zion exploration area. Since 1990, exploration in northern Israel has continued and new wells have been drilled, including Zion’s Ma’anit #1, Ma’anit-Rehoboth #2, Elijah #3 and Ma’anit-Joseph #3.

Zion used limited pre-1990 seismic, gravity and magnetic studies to initiate its geological and geophysical activities. Since 1990, 24 seismic lines were acquired in the field by Zion, its predecessor at Ma’anit, and two other companies.

Zion has a country-wide geophysical database of 226 seismic lines totaling over 3,200 kilometers (2,993 miles), magnetic and gravimetric data in the license areas and geological information on most onshore wells drilled in Israel. By combining the available geological information and gravity and magnetic studies with the 24 additional seismic lines that Zion reprocessed to improve the quality, Zion has developed three dimensional structural pictures of prospects and leads, as shown in the illustration on the right depicting the interpretation of the Ma’anit structure at the tops of the major geological ages.”
